Everyday Moments
We have some exciting news to share -
Places of Welcome officially has a new Board of Directors!
After a full year of prayer, discernment, and conversations with our advisory board, the Lord gently led us to a simple but powerful decision: to ask our advisory board members if they would step into the role of board directors. We are so thankful to share that they all said yes! We’re incredibly grateful for their wisdom, faith, and shared vision as we continue this journey together.
This past June, we had the blessing of attending The Cause retreat in Texas—our fourth year being able to go. Each time we attend, God meets us in fresh and unexpected ways, and this year was no exception. Over the past year, we’ve sensed the Lord urging us to slow down. After a season of pushing hard and nearing burnout, we’ve been learning what it means to rest in God’s timing. As we’ve let go of our own pace, we’ve seen Him move more clearly, providing direction and peace.
The Cause Retreat in Texas.
One of the most powerful teachings from the retreat this year was about the difference between performance and satisfaction. We were reminded that a performance mindset can lead to pride or shame, while living from a place of God-given satisfaction leads to contentment and holy conviction. That message was deeply affirming—it encouraged us that we're on the right path, seeking to live not for applause but for alignment with God's heart.
The retreat also gave us the opportunity to reconnect with friends and meet new ministry partners. We had great conversations, shared stories, and encouraged one another. On another note—Oliver had a blast catching all sorts of insects (including a giant black widow spider!), and Eva spent her days in the pool enjoying time with one of her best friends.
One of the gifts of partnering with The Cause is the accountability it brings. Every quarter, we’re asked to submit a ministry report to them—and it’s a blessing in disguise.
On the surface, it might feel like another administrative task to do, but every time we pause to reflect and write, we’re reminded of how faithful God has been and how much He is doing—even in what feels mundane at times.
As we reflected on this past quarter we realized that we have directly served 90 individuals—from homeschooling moms to hosting guests in The Duplex, including someone who simply needed space to breathe and recover. These are the everyday moments where God’s love meets people in quiet but powerful ways.
Looking Ahead
We’re currently forming a team to attend the upcoming Rainbow Gathering (happening in Northern Minnesota at the end of August). We hope to bring the Jesus Kitchen again to serve and share Christ’s love in a tangible way. Teresa is also stepping back into her role as Prayer Coordinator for her homeschool co-op, where she’ll be guiding nearly 50 women through a year of prayer and spiritual encouragement.
We are so thankful for your continued support, prayers, and encouragement. Your partnership helps make Places of Welcome a space where people truly experience the hospitality and love of Jesus.
